This page describes how to submit a copyright takedown notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. The Designated Agent registration with the US Copyright Office is in progress; until that completes, notices should be sent to the email address below.

Submitting a takedown notice

To be effective, a copyright notice must include:

  • A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or person authorized to act on their behalf.
  • Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed.
  • Identification of the material on our service claimed to be infringing, with information reasonably sufficient to allow us to locate the material (URLs help).
  • Your contact information — physical address, telephone number, and email.
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf.

Counter-notice

If content you uploaded was removed and you believe it was a mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice. It must include all of the above plus:

  • Identification of the material that was removed and its location before removal.
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  • Consent to jurisdiction of the US federal district court for the judicial district where your address is located, or if outside the US, any judicial district in which we may be found.

Per 17 U.S.C. § 512(g), we will restore the content within 10-14 business days unless the original claimant files an action seeking a court order against the user.

Repeat infringer policy

Accounts associated with multiple substantiated copyright notices will be suspended or terminated per our Acceptable Use Policy. Forged DMCA notices may result in liability under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).
